MOLECULAR BIOPHYSICS TRAINING PROGRAM

Sé Ferrell is a 3rd year DGP student in Murali Prakriya’s Lab, where she is studying the biophysics of Ca²⁺ release-activated Ca²⁺ (CRAC) channels.  Originally from Portland, Maine, Sé studied biology and chemistry at Mount Holyoke College before joining Northwestern as a research technician in Alfonso Mondragón’s Lab.

Research

Sé is interested in understanding the mechanisms behind molecular machines using biophysical techniques. In the Prakriya Lab, Sé is working to characterize the structural basis of Ca²⁺ dependent inactivation in Orai1, the pore-forming subunit of CRAC channels.
