Identifying the mechanisms behind CRAC channel fastCa2+-dependent inactivation

Trainee 2023/2024

Sé Ferrell is a 3rd year DGP student in Murali Prakriya’s Lab, where she is studying the biophysics of Ca2+ release-activated Ca2+ (CRAC) channels.  Originally from Portland, Maine, Sé studied biology and chemistry at Mount Holyoke College before joining Northwestern as a research technician in Alfonso Mondragón’s Lab.

Research

Sé is interested in understanding the mechanisms behind molecular machines using biophysical techniques. In the Prakriya Lab, Sé is working to characterize the structural basis of Ca2+ dependent inactivation in Orai1, the pore-forming subunit of CRAC channels.
